New distribution system for the next Kyosho 1/64 in July : no more blindboxes, the cars will be sold in display boxes. This convenient feature comes at a cost : the retail price will be significantly higher than it used to be with blindboxes.
Only two models in 3 colors each for this small collection.
There will be two special editions for two different stores: GoodSmile Company exclusive blue S660 and HMV exclusive gray NSX:
Limited quantities available for preorder.
Apita stores started to sell exclusives Tomica variants back in 2003, most of them police cars. Their favourite model quickly became the Toyota 2000GT and every year since 2009 (except 2011) they would release a New Year edition of the 2000GT ornated with the Japanese flag. The succes of these cars in particular certainly sparked the creation of the World Flags Collection. In 2013, after the New Year special and a Sakura edition to celebrate spring (that some consider as the prototypes of the World Flags Collection), a 2000GT wearing the USA flag was released and became an immediate hit.
Since then, like clockwork, Apita provides new Toyota 2000GT wrapped in the flag of a different country every two months. It seems like they plan to go on with that collection for a while. In the meantime you can catch up with the 19 previous releases on eBay.
All cars and boxes are in mint to near mint condition, except for a slight tear on the Switzerland box. Apita stores certainly take more care of their items than Aeon or Toys R Us.

Launched in 2011, the Aeon Tuning Car Series has been going on with a new model released exclusively at Aeon stores appromatively every 2 months. Last month marked the 25th car of a very nice collection including some of the most sought after Tomica variants.
I discovered the collection in 2013, and it took me time to find all the 2011 and 2012 releases I missed. Then it proved quite difficult to get the new releases, Aeon being the only Tomica retailer still not selling online. Having to take a 2 hours round trip to the nearest Aeon mall, often to find out that the car was already sold out, was not the most enticing collecting experience and I had to resort to Yahoo Auctions many times.
Now is time for me to part with most of my Tomica collections, and this Aeon Tuning Car Series is going to eBay to find a new home. The starting price may seem high but that’s less than half the market value, and EMS shipping is included.
All the cars are in excellent condition, as far I can tell none has any defect (they were not on display and kept in storage, no dust or fingerprints). The state of the boxes vary : most are in very good condition (with regular shelf wear), and I highlighted the noticeable marks on some of them.

The marks I noticed on some boxes :
The Apita World Flag collection is next.
While we are waiting for news from Kyosho, CircleK/SunKus just revealed their minicar collection for February. Not Kyosho and not 1/64 scale this time !
The Mini Cooper collection is 1/60 scale and made by the Taiwanese company PaoFeng.
The cars come with a card and unassembled, in pure Kyosho fashion.
This release is a CircleK online exclusive and won’t be available in stores.

Final coverage of the Shizuoka Hobby Show 2015.
The event was much smaller than last year. Less booths, less space and less new products. The big RC planes and helicopter section from last year have vanished, and the model kits area has been reduced by at least 60%. The diecast part was also affected with the absence of Interallied, major player in the field with their 1/43 Hi-Story and 1/64 Oversteer (as well as many military and aviation model kits). Most of the products on display were repeat from last year and only Tomytec really brought new exciting stuff.
After a surprisingly good Japanese Classic Car Collection Series.1, F-Toys is working on the second Series. The Skyline 2000 Turbo RSX and the Honda NSX.
Many pictures from the Ignition Model booth, because it was worth it. Very tiny but packed with the most detailed 1/43 scale cars and beautiful 1/18 scale. The small Japanese company found its audience and is releasing more and more gems.
With a level of detail and overall quality only matched by Ignition, MakeUp booth is always a delight with their Eidolon and Vision 1/43 lines. Beautiful Lamborghini, Porsche, Aston Martin and more.
The historic maker has obviously some difficulties at the moment. Their booth was exactly the same as last year, with the same “coming soon” cars still to be released. Except the 2014 Super GT cars, nothing was new and it’s worrying.
The Japanese brand launched 2 years ago changed their mind. They initially produced high-end 1/43 but this year their lineup is mostly made of cheaper mid-range cars.
It seems like they are using existing molds from Kyosho or Ebbro, but no confirmation on this. Their 1/18 scale line however remain the same with the addition of the Lexus LFA.
Nothing new on the Gulliver booth either, but the Century Dragon 1/43 scale Jaguar and BMW are always good to look at.
Just as last year, the main activity on the AutoArt booth was a 1000 yen game to win various items. And a few 1/18 scale cars were on display too.
Many 1/64 Porsche 991 from the Spark Team running the Carrera Cup Asia were on display to promote the Kid’s Colouring Competition.
The plain white version and the blue version from the 2015 race in Shangai are on sale exclusively at Spark shops.
The green version from last race in Korea was also on display, but no indication on an eventual release.
Spark revealed their first 1/64 F1 : the Infinity Redbull RB11.
And of course many 1/43 scale models.
Let’s hope for a better edition of the Shizuoka Hobby Show next year !
