Review : Rai’s 64 Police Cars

Rai’s, 1/43 specialist, made its debut in the 1/64 scale last year with a Japanese police Toyota Crown. After many variants of the same car we finally get to see something new. The Skyline GT-R R32, Mazda RX8 and Skyline GT-R R34 are now available in their fine looking Japanese police liveries.

Nissan Skyline GT-R BNR32 (high-speed police interception unit)

Mazda RX-8 SE3P (Tokyo riot police unit)

Nissan Skyline GT-R BNR34 (Saitama Prefecture high-speed police interception unit)

In the same fashion as the Carnel 64 line, these cars are modified Kyosho models. The added details are numerous and accurate : bug deflectors, strobe lights, extra mirrors, antennas and of course markings.

Overall very nice looking car, even though a very close inspection can show slightly crooked tampos. The quality and feel are very similar to the Kyosho Beads.

Limited to 800 pcs and already hard to find. The Honda NSX should be released soon.

Event : All Japan Model & Hobby Show – Rai’s and F-Toys

Rai’s finally decided to add some variety to their 1/64 Japanese police cars collection after many variations of the Toyota Crown 180. In 2015 we will see Honda NSX, Nissan Fairlady Z432, Nissan Slyline GT-R R34 and R32 as well as Mazda RX-8 (and a bit more Crowns).

On the same booth the other brand from Hiko7, Car-nel, was introducing a new 1/64 line based on custom cars. First batch will be composed of 4 Nissan models, all of them available in two colors. There will be the Fairlady Z & 240ZG and Skyline GT-R KPGC10 & KPGC110. The models are quite good looking.

F-Toys was displaying the upcoming Skyline GT-R R32 Japan Touring Car Championship collection. Last F-Toys collection was surprizingly good and it seems the R32 collection will be from the same overall quality. The cars still feel like cheap plastic and the paint job isn’t perfect, but it’s still great value for under 800 yen.
